As part of Nihon University's 130th anniversary project, the first official affiliated elementary school opened in April 2015. The school was designed to nurture the educational philosophy of "fostering autonomy and creativity," providing various spaces such as workspaces and semi-open classrooms for the students. Each grade is assigned one of six rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple), which are used in places where children can see and touch, such as courtyard openings, special classroom furniture, and signs, to stimulate their visual and tactile senses. The exterior of the school building is designed to show the layout of each classroom from the outside, using a "bird's eye view," while the interior space reflects the difference in physique between younger and older students through scale, using an "insect's eye view." A large glass opening with the pattern of cherry blossoms and grass from the school emblem is installed at the back of the stage in the gymnasium, allowing sunlight to enter. The school emblem pattern contrasts with the wall greening, expressing the flow of time by comparing the universal and the changing through the "fish's eye" design.
