Sekido Art Museum of Senju Metal Industry

Museum named the Client’s pseudonym an art space with a spiral slope

Sekido Museum, named after the pseudonym of Sato Senjyu, is a new musuem within the Senju Metal Industrial Headquarters Building. Sato Senjyu(1918-2008) was an art collector and the chairman of Senju Metal Industry. Its mission is to foster international cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and Japanese cultural advancement through fine arts and crafts, while contributing to the local community. The museum will exhibit Senjyu’s diverse collection held by the Sato Foundation for the Fine Arts and Crafts, including Ukiyo-e related to the region, Asian and European ceramics, metalworks, and religious art. Responding to Guggenheim Museums’ style exhibition style with slopes, the gallery features a two-story atrium with a spiral slope along the hexagonal perimeter, creating a meandering viewing route. The signature double-story tower cases piercing the atrium and slope-guided circulation offer dynamic, three-dimensional displays—changing perspectives as visitors move, adding rhythm and depth to the experience for a more engaging encounter with the arts.
