As part of the renovation of an elementary school in the southwestern part of Setagaya Ward, the plan is to demolish and rebuild the west wing of the existing school buildings, which are arranged in a U-shape consisting of the south wing, north wing, and west wing. The new school building is designed to serve as a hub for the local community while supporting rich educational activities. Environmental considerations include ensuring natural lighting and ventilation, enhancing solar power generation, and rooftop greening. For natural lighting, light shelves are incorporated into the grid-like frames on the outdoor side facing each classroom, allowing soft indirect light to enter the interior while blocking direct sunlight, and the building itself is designed to serve as a teaching material for energy conservation and environmental awareness. Cherry blossom-colored tiles are used on part of the exterior walls to express regional characteristics.
