National Institure Of Industrial Health

Layout Design of Government Research Institutes
Enviromentary Institute Building with "Brise-soleil

The General Institute of Industrial Medicine was a research facility of the Ministry of Labor (now the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare), conducting scientific research to ensure the safety and health of workers in the workplace. A layout plan was developed for its 17,000-square-meter site in Tama Ward, Kawasaki, including the design of the main research building and administration building. The main building’s exterior features vertical "Brise-soleil", embodying an environmentally considerate research institute architecture. Following a organizational restructuring in 2006, it now operates as National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health under Japan Organization of Occupied Health and Safetyt, with the main building continuing to serve as part of the institute.
