This office building is planned near the lush Shinjuku Gyoen, yet right next to the bustling downtown area. When planning, the area still had a vivid, chaotic landscape reminiscent of its past, but it wasn't an ideal environment. So, with the intention of renewing its image for the future, we aimed for a design that would lead the update to a new and clean city. Clear glass was used throughout as a symbol, bringing the greenery of Shinjuku Gyoen indoors and expressing the flow of fresh air with light fins. The building's corner cuts, resulting from the sky ratio, were creatively integrated into the design, interlocking the vertical volume facing Koshu Kaido with the horizontal volume connecting to Shinjuku Gyoen. This abstractly expressed harmony with the streetscape's scale, the movement of people, and the interaction of people, cars, and objects at the intersection.
