Located in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Banshou-san Kassuisai Temple was founded in 1401 (Ouei era 8) by Jochu Tengin Zen Master, boasting a 600-year history. As one of the Three Enshu-Temple, it ranks among the most eminent temples of the Soto-Zen temples. Spanning 330,000 square meters, the temple precinct contains 25 buildings, many of which are elegant historic structures. The main reception hall "Banshoukaku" was reconstructed as part of the temple complex renovation project coinciding with the once-in-60-years opening of the Akiba-Sancho-Bo Great Deity. The three-story building features a Karahafu-roof (Chinese-style gable roof) he 1st-floor entrance for visitor reception. The 2nd-floor treasure hall uses a Yosemune-zukuri -roof (hipped-and-gable-roof) with recessed walls and minimal openings to protect artifacts through controlled lighting. The 3rd-floor study hall is capped with a Irimoya-zukuri-roof (half-hipped roof) . The design incorporates meticulous Zen Buddhist styling, allowing pilgrims traversing the lush forested grounds to experience the temple's six-century heritage within the building itself.
