Mitsubishi Heavy Industry "Shonanso"

The renovation of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Health Insurance Association Convalescent Home, selected through a proposal. Situated in a quiet residential area five minutes from Zushi Coast, the design focused on creating an open space befitting a resort in Shonan while respecting the surrounding living environment. By creating a central courtyard on the basement level and surrounding three sides (excluding the main road) with a U-shaped building layout, complemented by roadside planting along the main thoroughfare, the project achieved a balance between visual privacy control and an airy, intimate atmosphere. Considering direct physical interaction with the building (such as sea bathing), the entire facility was finished with soft, warm materials like wood and sandstone.
